The Strike vs Training conundrum

Resident Doctors are on strike again. The Dept of Health has cancelled 1000 new training posts, which appears to be a bargaining tool. But is thei a responsible act, given the huge discrepancy between applicants and training posts? This gap needs closing, and the current dispute is no reason to abandon these plans.
